Breaking through the Wall

 Breaking Through the 3:49:59 Wall in a Marathon! 

I have done it once… and believe I can do it again! Numbers are important, but they are just numbers.  A sub 3:50 is a Boston Qualifer for 2025, but it was never about Boston. It was about me. It was about my personal best. a 3:49:07 is an all-time personal best and that is what I am chasing.


I believe in me… and my ability to make this happen. That is what matters. A few people have told me I have it within me but what matters most is that I work forward, follow a plan and believe that I have had the power all along.


Steps forward:


  1. Print out calendar pages and figure out where to pick up training for Marquette. 

  2. Focus on Three key runs a week. 

  3. Create a plan for strength training, swimming and biking. 

  4. Look at Hansen’s plan for 3:50 and 3:45. 

  5. Figure out what went well last marathon and what can be improved.

  6. Place goal and visual on my bathroom mirror.

  7. Visualize and write goals based on this goal.

  8. Realize that there is not a race where this does not happen.

  9. The Good news is that there is a 3:50 pace team now.
